Rangeley Public Library

Funding

How Are We Funded?

Rangeley Public Library is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, owned and operated by the Rangeley Library Association. It is funded approximately 50% by Rangeley and the surrounding plantations through tax dollars. The other half of the budget is raised by donations and fundraisers.

Each year, the library’s Board of Directors hosts many fundraisers which have included sales of books, baked goods, plants, limited edition prints, pottery, fleece jackets, and other items. We also publish and sell the local phone directory, have held many gala events including auctions, both live and silent, and send out annual appeals letters asking for contributions which many patrons, both local and seasonal, respond to generously.

Keeping the library up-to-date and in good condition is a job that requires the support of many, and we appreciate the part that each one plays.
